The IMB Science Ambassadors are a group of early-career researchers chosen to receive extra training in communication and represent the institute at events as well as creating content such as worksheets to disseminate to the wider community.

The program was launched in 2009. It was the brainchild of PhD student Maggie Hardy, who has been involved in applied science research, education and outreach programs for the public for a number of years. She proposed a program where researchers who are passionate about science communication, in particular with potential funders, the media and the community, receive training to enable them to effectively represent the IMB. The program also rewards those who volunteer for events and activities on a regular basis.
